Curriculum and Assessment
The curriculum in Key Stage 3 is very broad with pupils having the opportunity to experience a wealth of academic and practical subjects. However, one of the defining features of the school is the degree of pupil and parental choice.
Pupils in Year 7 may choose to study 1 or 2 Modern Foreign Languages, or they may decide to spend this curriculum time having extra support with English and Mathematics. Subjects taught in Year 7 are:
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- French

- Extended Project

Pupils are assessed according to their personally set targets which are reported regularly to parents. Pupils begin GCSE Science in Year 9 and they also have the opportunity to take the AQA forerunner to GCSE English Language, 'Step Up'.
The School does not take SATS.
Internal school examinations take place annually and results are reported to parents in the Summer Term.
Our SENCO also undertakes assessment of pupils with special educational needs and this includes dyslexia screening.
