At the end of Key Stage 3, our pupils experience a Transition Day in order to prepare them for the start of Year 10 in Key Stage 4. We encourage pupils to see this move as a new opportunity as they have more choice over which subjects they study and may take on new enrichment activities such as Duke of Edinburgh.

This is also a popular time for pupils from other schools to join us. Some parents see a two year investment in Independent Education as a financial possibility and certainly pupils who have joined in these important years have gone on to do very well.

Key Stage 4 classes are small and all pupils benefit from a low pupil/teacher ratio. This means that individual help can be easily provided and progress can be closely monitored. We do not take end of Key Stage 3 SATs and parents and pupils may decide how many Option choices are made at GCSE.

Pupils are actively encouraged to take part in the wider aspects of school life and the extra-curricular programme is rich and varied. Activities include: Youth Theatre, Sport, Music, LabRats, Jewellery Club, Fishing, Gardening Club, Christmas Cake Club, to name but a few!

There are numerous opportunities for pupils to take on positions of responsibility as Pupil Ambassadors, Representatives for School Council, Hospitality Team, Prefects and House Captains.

 Key Stage 4 pupils help with our Junior School pupils through accredited programmes such as National Sports Leaders and all Year 10 pupils undertake 2 weeks of Work Experience.
